At 6' 1- 1/2" he is tall not only in stature, but also tall in accomplishments, love of his fellow man, love of his country, and love of God. He has served in the U.S. Air Force, with four years of that in the Southeast Asia conflict. He has served as a protector of the people, years ago, when in a career in law enforcement with the Pensacola and Birmingham police departments. He spent 23 years, guarding and protecting Presidents as a U.S. Secret Service Agent. Chuck was assigned to guarding the room of President Ronald Reagan upon the attempt of his life in 1981. It's no secret what a special breed these agents play in being willing to lay their lives down for another.
The path to these accomplishments was quite a challenge. Chuck's birth father was killed in a tragic auto accident when Chuck was just three years of age. Never having been able to really know his father was a loss he grew up with. Then, when Chuck was just 11, his mother remarried, but his stepfather was an alcoholic.
Just after completing high school, Chuck immediately joined the U.S. Air Force. His next accomplishment was earning a degree from FSU in Social Welfare and Criminology. That achievement took him to police work, where he met the love of his life, Rhonda, in Birmingham, Alabama in 1972.
1974 was a very big year. Chuck became a born again Christian. That same year, he was hired as a Secret Service Agent and moved his family to D.C. His new job, which he climbed quickly into the ranks of Presidential detail, kept him traveling 80% of the time. He credit wife, Rhonda, with being the rock in raising their two children.
Having been a part of history: the assassination attempt on the life of President Ronald Reagan, changed his way of thinking. He was transformed by the way Secret Service agent, Timothy McCarthy took a bullet for Reagan, without having to pause to think about it- instinct. That is when the reality hit Chuck, that, when you turn your life over to the Lord, you are prepared to handle whatever life throws at you. No matter how challenging and how difficult it becomes.
Chuck soon discovered that he was being molded by all of his life's experiences. He soon saw how being without a father figure, Air Force training, education, Secret Service training and becoming a born again Christian would put him directly in line with being able to help other men, other fathers, other husbands.
To date, he has authored magazines: "Honorbound", and currently "Focus". Chuck has authored two books: "The Champions Playbook" and "Dead Men Rising". Both of which may be ordered from his website, www.championsofhonor.com
Champions of honor is a national men's ministry that Chuck founded in 2005, geared towards helping men become successful leaders, fathers, and husbands.
Chuck currently serves on the National steering committee of the National Coalition of Men's Ministry. He also now serves as an associate Pastor at Brownsville assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida.
Yes, the resume may be impressive, but so is the kind spirit of a man that you encounter when you meet him. His big heart and dedication to others is truly inspiring. That's why we give a salute and big warm "thank you" to Chuck for his dedication and service!
